Embark on an unforgettable 6-day journey through Morocco, from the vibrant coastal city of Tangier to the magical landscapes and imperial treasures of Marrakech. This tour will take you from the serene blue city of Chefchaouen, through the ancient streets of Fes, across the breathtaking Merzouga Desert, and through the stunning valleys and kasbahs of the High Atlas Mountains. Experience Morocco's rich history, diverse landscapes, and vibrant culture, all while staying in charming accommodations and enjoying traditional Moroccan hospitality.
Arrive at the port or Tangier airport from Spain by boat or plane. Our 6-day journey from Tangier to Marrakech begins with a scenic drive to the blue city of CHEFCHAOUEN, located in the Rif Mountains of northwestern Morocco.
Chefchaouen is famous for its blue-washed buildings in the old town. Leather and weaving workshops line its narrow, steep alleys. On the main square, OUTA EL HAMMAM, you’ll find the KASBAH (a fortress and 15th-century keep) and the ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM. The octagonal minaret of the Grand Mosque is also nearby.
The name "Chefchaouen" derives from the Berber language, meaning “look at the horns,” referring to the unique shape of the surrounding mountains. The panoramic views here are remarkable, with these "horns" framing the village beautifully.
Accommodation: Hotel
After breakfast, we depart Chefchaouen, heading towards FES. On the way, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the ROYAL PALACE, the JEWISH QUARTER (MELLAH), and enjoy a viewpoint where you can admire the southern tower and various mosques of the city.
In FES, a UNESCO World Heritage site, explore its labyrinthine streets, which are divided by guilds of potters, dyers, and artisans. The city, a medieval wonder, seems to transport you back in time, and you’ll see how the clock of LA MAGANA BOUNANIA hasn’t changed in 1,200 years—truly a marvel.
Accommodation: Riad
In the morning, our journey continues towards the MIDDLE ATLAS, passing through IFRANE, known as the "Little Switzerland of Morocco" due to its resemblance to the Swiss Alps. We’ll take some photos here.
Next, we’ll drive through the famous cedar forests, where we’ll stop to see the GOURAUD CEDAR, the largest millennial cedar in the region. Then, we’ll move on to MIDELT for lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll cross the stunning ZIZ VALLEY, known for its palm groves, making it one of the largest oases in the world.
We’ll continue on to the MERZOUGA DESERT, where we’ll mount camels and take a caravan ride through the dunes to witness a breathtaking desert sunset. After arriving at our desert camp, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring to our tents under a sky full of stars.
Accommodation: Desert Camp (Overnight in a tent)
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the desert, followed by a hearty breakfast.
We’ll head to ERFOUD, where we can visit a fossilized marble factory, before continuing towards the TODRA GORGE, one of the most stunning natural wonders in the High Atlas Mountains. The river has carved a deep gorge with towering vertical walls, a paradise for climbers.
After lunch, we’ll continue to the DADÈS VALLEY, also known as the "Valley of Figs," and then head towards the VALLEY OF ROSES and the famous SKOURA PALM GROVE.
We’ll arrive in OUARZAZATE, also known as the "Gateway to the Desert," and visit the TAOURIRT KASBAH, once the residence of the Glaoui family.
Accommodation: Riad
After breakfast, we’ll visit the CINEMA STUDIOS and CINEMA MUSEUM in Ouarzazate, where several famous films, including Gladiator and Sahara, were filmed.
We’ll then proceed to AIT BENHADDOU, a fortified city and UNESCO World Heritage site, where we’ll explore its famous Kasbah. This site has appeared in many films, such as Obelix, Gladiator, and Lawrence of Arabia.
After lunch in the village, we’ll drive towards MARRAKECH, crossing the TIZI N’TICHKA PASS in the High Atlas Mountains, stopping along the way to take in the stunning views.
We’ll arrive in MARRAKECH in the afternoon, where the rest of the day is free to relax and explore.
